To reduce the risk of internal corrosion of the power plant the pH value of the steam/water is increased to 9.5 by adding alkalizers.

At the monitoring system, the cation filter eliminates the contribution of alkalizers (ammonia or morpholine) to the measured conductivity value. By transforming neutral salts into mineral acids the cation filter amplifies the detection of impurities (salts) with a 3x higher conductivity value.

These impurities may be caused by carry over of boiler water or leaking condensate pipes.

The filter material changes color when exhausted.
